turns over but won't start

Well, I'm getting fuel to the carborator, the starter is turing over strong, there is spark from the spark plugs, but nothing is igniting. I am assuming it is an electrical problem somewhere, but cannot find any corroded or worn wires. There is power getting to the coil, but may replace that judst in case. What is weird, though, is that a have a 73 beetle, and there's a 6v coil installed right now where there should be a 12v.

Any suggestions?
